Asparagus Sprengeri Fern
Asparagus densiflorus (‘Sprengeri’ Fern)
Water: Well Drained, Drought Tollerant Once Established
Related to the vegetable asparagus and lilies, asparagus ferns aren’t ferns at all. They do, however, reseble them, with fluffy mounds of long, fine needle-like leaflets on curving stems. White flowers followed by red berries will appear on amid the leaves from time to time. Extremely tollerant of light and soil conditions, they work well in containers, hanging baskets, beds, and gardens as both focal points and ground covers. Their roots contain nodules that store water and make them resistant to long periods without a drink.
