Bacopa

Sutera cordata (Bacopa ‘Bluetopia’ and ‘Snowtopia’)

Life: Annual

Size: 4″ tall, 18-24″ wide

Light: Full to Partial Sun

Water: Moist, Well-Drained

Soil: Rich, Slightly Acidic

Bacopa from seed, for the first time comparable to plants taken from cuttings! An enthusiastic little beauty, it will produce an explosion of small but showy white (‘Snowtopia’) or lavender-blue (‘Bluetopia’) flowers from fall until the summer heat. Its trailing habbit is best appreciated in a hanging basket or in a large pot, perhaps to fill out the bottom of a taller plant, but it also makes an excellent cool-weather ground cover.

Sutera cordata (Bacopa ‘Gulliver’)

Life: Annual

Size: 4″ tall, 15″ wide

Light: Full to Partial Sun

Water: Moist, Well-Drained

Soil: Rich, Slightly Acidic

This particular Bacopa has much larger flowers than other cultivars, which come in colors of White, Snow, Lavender, and Lilac. It also blooms later into the summer than other varieties, being able to withstand the heat better. However, one thing it does share with the older plant strains is the number of blooms: hundreds at a time, covering the plant in a blanket of color. They have a compact, semi-trailing growth habit which makes them lovely in hanging baskets, containers, raised beds, or anywhere they can spill over the edge.
