Peggy Martin Rose

Hello Friends,

Antique Roses

Peggy Martin Antique Rose

Three years ago my Aunt Mary gave me 4 cuttings of a climbing rose she has had for years.  When her rose is blooming in the spring there is a traffic jam on her street in Groves, Texas.  Itis magnificent –  gracefully draping over a white arbor with many hundreds, possibly thousands of flowers.  So she brought me these cuttings in the spring, I left them laying by a water hose at the back of the garden center here at the nursery too long and somebody snatched them.  Of course, I had to tell her that I hadn’t planted them promptly enough and could she please give me some more.  Two years ago, she gave me two more cuttings which I very promptly planted so she wouldn’t be mad at me.  Those two cuttings are now beautifully arching over an area we have back by the herbs – blooming beautifully and extremely fast growing.  This amazing rose is PEGGY MARTIN. Of course we have been selling Peggy Martin roses for years but these two roses are very special to me because they came from her plant which she has had for many years. I cannot say too much about how well this climber grows for us and will grow for you.

Peggy Martin, which is also known as the Hurricane Katrina rose according to the Antique Rose Emporium, is a vigorous climber that can easily reach 15 feet or more.  It bears clusters of beautiful pink roses from spring thru fall and is very disease resistant.  It’s also practically thornless.

If you are a novice rose grower or afraid you won’t be successful with roses, try this one.
