Bee Balm

Beebalm is a perennial  in the mint family. It is hardy in zones 4-9.

The typical bloom color is bright red, but white or purple cultivars are available. Bloom season in our region is spring to early summer. The bright flowers attract bees, butterflies and hummingbirds. 

Beebalm grows upright 2 to 4 feet tall and can be grown in sun to part shade.
 
The name Beebalm refers to the medicinal use of the plant to soothe bee stings.
 
Another common name is Oswego tea.  This refers to Oswego Native Americans who used the leaves to make herbal tea. The aromatic leaves make great mint tea
 
Bee Balm is a showy perennial that is versatile enough to fit into virtually all beds and borders.
