From South Africa comes this attractive creeper. Its leaves come in both solid green and variegated green with cream, and the flowers are small, bright red, and shaped like daisies with more petals, produced from spring to frost in great amounts. Makes a lovely evergreen trailing plant for hanging baskets, or at the edge of a container where it can cascade down the side, or even as a blooming ground cover in beds.

It has a spreading growth habit, forming large mats of thick, succulent green leaves that are 5″ long and triangular in cross-section. The 3″ flowers are magenta with a yellow throat and will be followed by reddish-brown, fig-shaped fruit, which gives rise to its common name of “Sea Fig”. It is a good plant to grow along the coast, as it tollerates salt spray and can help conrol erosion.
