Cyclamen is a beautiful annual with silvery green heart shaped leaves. It blooms winter through spring in red, lavender, pink or white. The blooms look like butterflies hovering over the foliage . Cyclamen do well in morning sun or bright shade. It’s important to plant them high as they need good drainage as they will rot if overwatered. Cyclamen look best near walkways or doorways where they can be enjoyed close-up. I like to plant them in glazed pots, so they can be moved about the patio. A good mixed planting is cyclamen, alyssum and dusty miller. you can bring them inside for a short time, too. However, be very careful as they are poisonous to pets and children.
