Coral Vine

Antigonon leptopus (Coral Vine/Queen’s Wreath)

Life: Perrenial

Size: 40′

Light: Full Sun

Water: Normal to Moist

Soil: Loamy

Native to Mexico, this is a beautiful and enthusiastic tropical climer, covering not only its own trellis but also any nearby trees with its twining tendrils, heart-shaped leaves, and, in the late summer and fall, brilliant racemes of soft pink flowers. There is a solid white variety. Despite being a tropical, it does very well in Texas. After the foliage has frozen, cut off the vines at the ground, but don’t worry: the tuberous roots will quickly regrow all forty feet of their glory the next year, ready to put on another show.
