Artemesia

Artemisia schmidtiana (‘Angel’s Hair’)

Life: Perennial

Size: 2′ tall, 3′ wide

Light: Full Sun

Water: Light to Moderate, Well Drained

Soil: Average to Poor

Grown mostly for its foliage, which is a beautiful silver color with fine, deeply cut leaves and a pleasant aroma. On occasion, it may send up a spray of white flowers. An extremely tough plant, it actually prefers poor soil; too much fertilizer will cause it to grow lanky and die early! In Texas and other warm areas, it is evergreen (eversilver?). It has a rounded growing habbit, and light pruning on established plants can help maintain shape and boundaries. It is like a more compact form of the better known Artemisia ‘Powis Castle’.
