Aloysia virgata (Almond Verbena)
Size: 15′ tall and wide
Light: Full to Partial Sun
Water: Drought Tollerant Once Established
This multi-trunked small tree or large shrub is underutilized in landscapes. From spring to frost it is covered in terminal spikes of white flowers which, especially in the late afternoons and evenings, waft a rich, beautiful aroma of vanilla and almonds. The stems are upright and woody, and the leaves are dark green, rough like sandpaper, and drop after the first frost. The highly fragrant flowers will attract butterflies and bees to your garden.
